Ok. Let me try to phrase this properly. I’m on the book of Ecclesiastes , listening to the vcd recording of Pastor Benny Ho. Ecclesistes, is the most highlighted book in my bible yet. I always question things. Question the meaning of day-to-day living. The most basic of life. And yes this semester is of another. It’s my worst semester yet. I’m going through another round of questioning.
Like why do I study so hard. Is it worth it? Will my time spent on this studies do any help to my grades since it’s not really how hard you study but how smart you study? And even if you study, it’s altogether a different thing when you enter the working world.
And some people are obviously smarter than you. Then I ask what’s the point.
There are a lot more questions I ask.
But I think after listening to his sermon, I realize something.
The answer has always been with me all along. The above questions, yes are negative, are simply excuses for me being lazy. And further yet, as much as I hate to admit it, I’m looking at things from a humanistic point of view.
2 things that Solomon didn’t discover how personal is Our God is that his perspective came from – “Under the Sun” (from man’s point of view) and “as long as I live” (temporal) approach. And yes,
pursue of enlightenment (education),
enjoyment (laughter, wine and fun) and
enrichment (charity work) is
yet but meaningless, if
at the end of the day everyone is bounded by death. Life then just becomes an on-going circle.
But I’m so thankful that no, I have discovered that
life is a forward looking straight line for me. It begins with the day I meet Christ and end with the day I meet Him again, when I’m totally transformed.
There is so much more purpose and meaning in that.
It’s often so hard, but it’s just
what I need. To live a life filled with His guiding presence. Every little thing then has meaning.
Heaven above is softer blue
Earth below is sweeter green
Something lives in every hue
Christless eyes have never seen
Birds with sweeter songs overflow
Flowers with newer beauty shine
Since I know as I now know
I am His and He is mine.
Let me fall deeper in love with You
